IOS and BlackBerry Update Notice

3/19/13 - Latest iOS Release

The newest Apple Operating System iOS 6.1.3 (released on Tuesday, March 19th) is now certified for Guardian managed devices. This new iOS update fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app.

Keeping your device current with the latest Guardian supported iOS, helps to ensure your device is ready for upcoming changes to our infrastructure.

Remember: Once you start the iOS 6.1.3 update process, you should not stop. Ensure your device is connected to a power source. You may also wish to connect your device to a wireless network to avoid potential data costs for the download.

1/29/13 - BlackBerry 10

Guardian does plan to support the new BlackBerry 10 operating system (currently named the Z10) but not yet. Guardian, along with others in the industry, are beginning to test the new device as well as the processes required to manage security and integrate them into our email system. We expect it will take a couple of months to complete testing and we should be in a position to certify and announce support in April or May.

IMPORTANT - Please note that if you purchase a BlackBerry 10 device prior to our certification, you will not be able to use it for email and we will not be able to support it at this time.

RIM has communicated that they are supporting, selling and continuing to invest in BlackBerry v7 (e.g., Blackberry Bold, BlackBerry Curve) with no end of life date. Should you require a new Blackberry prior to our support of Blackberry v10, ensure it is running Blackberry v7.
